New Balance’s 99X Series is an icon of the sneaker world, loved for its premium constructions, unrivalled comfort and cutting-edge technology. This season, the label takes us back to where it all began, reissuing the very first in the much-loved family: the 990 V1. They’re in New Balance’s go-to palette, too, though there are some low-key additions. Shades of grey and white feature across the pigskin suede and breathable mesh uppers, while red accents at the tongues, heels and sidewalls give subtle contrast. The performance underpinnings are untouched, though, with a motion control device in the footbed for stability, three layers of EVA for cushioning and a durable Vibram® outsole.
